Shirodhara
A continuous stream of warm medicated oil — and an invitation to complete stillness.

About the Shirodhara
What is Shirodhara?
Shirodhara is one of the most distinctive and deeply therapeutic treatments in classical Kerala Ayurveda. Warm medicated oil — or in specific cases, medicated milk, buttermilk, or decoctions — is poured in a continuous, rhythmic stream over the centre of the forehead (the 'third eye' region), inducing a state of profound relaxation that reaches far beyond ordinary rest.
The gentle, uninterrupted flow creates a measurable shift in the nervous system — slowing brainwave activity, reducing the stress response, and allowing the mind to settle into a state of deep calm. At Kurichiyil Ayurveda, Shirodhara is performed following Abhyangam and is prescribed by our physicians as part of comprehensive stress management, sleep restoration, and neurological support programmes.
